Advice
Our experienced team is here to offer support and to signpost you to other services where appropriate.
In an emergency, which cannot wait until the office is open, please contact the children's out of hours team for your local authority, the telephone number for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is 01733 234724. Importantly, we are not a crisis team and if you are concerned about the emotional well-being of mental health of the child you are looking after or parenting, please discuss this in the first instance with your family GP.
Meeting your Family's Specific Needs
The Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Team recognise that adoption and being cared for by a special guardian can have a lifelong impact on both children and adults. We understand the complexities around this and the challenges families can face. Therefore, our team will work to assess your support needs and provide you with a tailored support package should needs be identified.
Please contact us on 01480 379679 or email us at adoptionandSGO.SupportDuty@cambridgeshire.gov.uk and will provide further details on how to access this support.
Access to the Adoption Support Fund
The Adoption Support Fund (ASF) has been established to help families access the services they need more easily. The amount per child per year is £5,000 for therapy, as well as a separate amount of up to £2,500 per child if special assessments are needed. Access to the fund is achieved should the team’s assessment identify therapeutic need specifically related to adoption or their family placement.
